PREVIEW: I was born into and was a member of a very conservative Southern Baptist church in rural Central Florida until I was 20. It was the biggest church in the city and is still growing to this day. Some time when I was in senior high school a new family (from California, I think ?) joined the church.
They were not like us. They wore shorts and t-shirts on Sunday morning. They smiled all of the time. Their hair was not perfect – in fact far from it. Okay, honestly, the father came to church looking like he just rolled out of bed! And they…raised their hands during worship! Emphatically!
