Children's Ministries: |
At McKendree Church our children are active in a number of areas
– Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and Special Seasonal
Programs.
Easter Egg Hunt – This annual event is a great favorite
for our McKendree Church and McKendree Day Carechildren.
Excited children, plenty of eggs to find, and tasty snacks make
for an event filled with fun.
Vacation Bible School – Each summer we have a time of
special study, music, crafts, drama, and activities. The
adults participate and help make this an exciting time. We
end this special week with an ice cream social!
Boy Scouts – Boy Scout Troop 219 meets here at
McKendree Church every Thursday evening. Fellowship,
projects, badge work and a sense of camaraderie are just a part
of what make up our Troop. |

| Missions and Outreach: |
In response to the Gospel, as a Church we feel called to put our faith into action through ministries of justice, hospitality and compassion. Some of these opportunities for ministry include:
Room in the Inn: We participate in this citywide program one night a week during the winter months. Our homeless guests sleep in warm beds in the Old Fellowship Hall. Sunday School classes, families and groups take turns providing a hot supper. A simple breakfast the next morning and a sack lunch for the day are also given to the men.
Downtown Outreach: As we have funds available, we help with bus fare, obtaining state identification, prescriptions, and assistance with utility bills.
Community Care Fellowship: Founded at McKendree Church, CCF is a Christian relief day-center providing services and support to those who are impoverished or homeless. Located in East Nashville, CCF is a place for the homeless to take a shower, wash their clothes, have a meal, and receive assistance in obtaining housing, and job education. We support this ministry through our prayers, financial gifts and volunteers. |

| Music: |
Music is a vital part of our life at McKendree Church. In our worship we strive to “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord.” We need the voices of all God’s people to be lifted in praise as we worship together.
Chancel Choir: This group sings most Sundays in the 11:00 worship service. Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings with childcare provided. The choir provides special music for Easter and Christmas.
Jubilate Singers: This Senior Adult Choir meets each Thursday morning for rehearsal and fellowship. They sing on occasion for our worship services and other special occasions. The Jubilate Singers also visit and sing for area senior residences.
Vocal Ensembles: Sometimes folks get together and provide special music for our New Wine Fellowship service and/or our traditional worship service.
Children: Our children form ensembles and sing on occasion in worship. |
